| My rust Incounter . . . Incounters actually. | |||
| There is always more rust then what is clearly visable. I have seen better, and I have seen worse.
Here is my 1969 Volkswagen 1600TL - Type III 'Fastback' - Still haven't named her! |

Here is how I found the inside body when I pulled the right rear fender. The outer fender had severe bubbling rust, so I knew there would be rust, the funny part is the years of dust and dirt that accumulated from the air vents, passed an old seal between the vent and the fender. It looks like we could date this like a geologist! |

Here is the same spot (just behind the wheel well on right inner fender), after a good cleaning with a wire brush.

This spot is also on the inner right fender, just in front of the rear wheel well. After poking around from the inside (see below) this gets much worse. None of this showed through the outer fender, but is more severe of a rust problem then is the back portion.
![]() | When giving the underseat area a quick look, I really scanned the base of the floor pan, around the battery(which is in good shape). It wasn't until I got in there 'good' that I noticed the size of the rust on my heater channel. This is not really 'heater channel' but where it continues back as frame support? This is a picture of how it looked when I first noticed it.

This picture show's better the extent of the rust! |

| Hoping soon I can add photos of these spots Patched! All good things come to those that wait. . .

| After all that bad news, here is a happier picture. My (self) repaired rear fenders, now waiting on the body repairs. I will have another page coming with the fender repair pictures. | |||
